MCCAIN-PALIN

I was looking around at the many stories on the net today about John McCain's pick of Alaska Governor Sarah Palin as his vice-presidential candidate. I found this video of the Palin acceptance speech on CNN, which you should watch - and then watch it again, this time focusing on John McCain. Um, is it me, or does he look like a guy who is very uncomfortable and doesn't know what he's doing? He fiddles with his wedding ring, he picks his finger nails, and he doesn't smile. He hugs Gov. Palin very stiffly, then goes back into a trance-like state. And also, um, what does he keep looking at? He keeps staring at something - you decide what.

In any event, this will be interesting and exciting political theater for the next 2 months. The McCain pick of Palin makes one wonder how the Republicans are going to continue to use their "Obama doesn't have the experience to be President of the United States." Palin is smart, tough and young, but has very little political experience for someone who will literally be a heart beat away from the U.S. presidency. (Can you imagine the anguish Hillary would go through if Palin became President?)

I'll write another post about the Democratic national convention, which I thought was absolutely boffo! And I might tune into the Republican convention to see what the other side is going to do.

This election cycle has been the most interesting I can remember in the 43 years I've been of voting age, and it is only going to get better! Stay tuned folks, the fun has just begun.

  1. Conspiracy theory time!

McCain has cancer (or some other fatal disease, your pick). He has one year to live, maybe two. He gets elected, then has someone assassinate him a la Dumbledore, making the Republicans the party to have the first woman President.

THAT is why he was looking so distracted (I did not see it, I'm just going on your description). He is trying to put out the vibe that he hasn't got long to go, in order to pick up the Clinton voters who refuse to vote for anyone but a woman.

    I'm just sayin', is all.

  2. Actually, I think McCain is a bot. The man is stiff and robotic - now maybe this has something to do with being tortured, which I hate to pick on.

But, pjd, what's wrong with conspiracy theory? I've posted my share of them.

You should watch the video, then let me know what you think he's looking at.

    Thanks...paf

  3. I don't know about McCain, but Cindy is definitely a fem-bot from an Austin Power's movie.

I read some interesting articles about Palin in the Sunday papers here in the UK. There's a rumor/theory here that her last son is actually her daughter's child. (Maybe I need to start reading a higher quality of paper on Sunday?)

Anyhoo - did you hear the NPR story about how her wiki page had some major changes to it the day before she was announced? The page was changed to add more positive details and to generally glow. The wiki people caught it and locked the page. Apparently the "editor" making the changes to Palin's page went by the screen name "YoungTrig".

This Palin thing has Harriet Miers written all over it.
